How to set a Secondary Employee

  • Go to Employees>>Employees

  • Search for the employee

  • Click the three dots at the far right and select edit employee

  • Go to the payroll section

  • On the page, scroll to the statutory information and click on the pencil icon to edit

  • Click on the secondary employee checkbox

  • Click save

Effect on payroll

In Kenya, secondary employees are taxed at a flat rate of 30%. They are not eligible to any reliefs and tax exemptions (Tax, Insurance & Mortgage Relief), and pension does not reduce taxable income.
